Premature Ejaculation What is PE?
Premature ejaculation (PE) is reaching climax and ejaculating before desired, usually within 1-2 minutes of penetration.
Usually, three criteria are used to define PE. These are, the time between penetration and ejaculation is shorter than desired (it is important to have realistic goals here), the person feels like they have no control of when they ejaculate and the time to ejaculate is distressing to the penis owner.
Studies show that the average time to ejaculation from penetration is 5 ½ min (reference below).

How common is it?
PE is much more common than you think and is a widespread problem, however one that penis owners rarely discuss with their friends so you may feel like you are the only one with this issue.
Some men are born with this issue called ‘primary” and others develop it later in life, “secondary”. PE affects almost 1 in 4 penis owners (ref below).
H.Porst, F. Montorsi, R. C. Rosen, L. Gaynor, . Grupe, and Alexander, “The Premature Ejaculation Prevalence and attitudes (PEPA) Survey: Prevalence, Comorbidities, and Professional Help Seeking,” European Urology 51(2007):816-23.
Causes of premature ejaculation
PE is complex and can be a physical, psychological, behavioural issue or a combination of these. It can often happen in combination with erectile dysfunction (ED) which is even more frustrating for the penis owner and partner.
PE can be primary which means the person has always had this problem and usually is physiological in cause, or it can be secondary which means it started later in life or only occurs in certain circumstances.
